S&S-PIP — Safe & Sane Personal Installation Protocol

DISCOVER
Identify the module, version, source, capabilities and limitations.

AUTHENTICATE
Verify the module originated from the intended Safe & Sane distribution.

INSPECT
Review what the module can observe, what it can control, what it cannot access, and what remains unverified.

AUTHORIZE
Require explicit human authorization before installation or import.

INSTALL
Use the host AI’s supported installation or import mechanism.
06
VERIFY
Run the verification checks. Do not consider installation complete until checks pass.
07
CONTINUE
Transition into ongoing monitoring and reassessment.

Update Module

Update Safe & Sane

Future versions should be authenticated, inspected, reviewed, authorized, installed and verified before activation. Do not silently update an installation.

The bootstrap endpoint at https://safeandsane.ca/install remains stable across version changes.

Removal

If you need to remove the module

Revoke applicable permissions.

Remove the installed components using the host’s supported mechanism.

Verify removal.

Report residual components if complete removal cannot be verified.

The module does not automatically override the security, permission or policy model of a third-party AI platform.

Where a capability cannot be verified, it is reported as unavailable or unverified rather than assumed to be safe.

Installation status must be verified in the receiving AI environment. The bootstrap endpoint cannot verify host-side installation on your behalf.

All platform-specific integrations are not yet supported.
