# Safe & Sane Personal AI Safety Module — Installation

## Important

The Safe & Sane Personal AI Safety Module is not a universal executable capable of installing itself into arbitrary AI platforms.

Downloading this package does not by itself mean that the module has been installed.

Installation requires the host AI environment to support an applicable installation or import mechanism.

## Supported installation mechanisms

The receiving AI environment must provide an appropriate mechanism such as:

- Custom instructions
- Policy layer
- Agent
- Extension
- Import mechanism
- Local wrapper
- Supported integration or API

## Installation sequence

### 01 — DISCOVER

Identify the module, version, source, capabilities and limitations.

Review the manifest at: https://safeandsane.ca/api/manifest

### 02 — AUTHENTICATE

Verify the module originated from the intended Safe & Sane distribution.

Source repository: https://github.com/originalsafeandsane-rgb/safe-and-sane/tree/main

Bootstrap endpoint: https://safeandsane.ca/install

### 03 — INSPECT

Review:

- What the module can observe
- What it can control
- What it cannot access
- What remains unverified

Refer to MODULE.md and the capability model.

### 04 — AUTHORIZE

Require explicit human authorization before installation or import.

Scanning the QR code does not grant authority.

Downloading this package does not grant authority.

### 05 — INSTALL

Use the host AI's supported installation or import mechanism.

Copy the contents of portable-ai-instructions.txt into your AI environment's custom instructions or equivalent mechanism if that is the supported method.

### 06 — VERIFY

Run the verification checks in VERIFY.md.

Do not consider installation complete until verification checks pass.

### 07 — CONTINUE

After installation, transition into ongoing monitoring and reassessment.

Installation establishes an initial configuration. It is not permanent certification.

## Notes

- The QR code encodes exactly: https://safeandsane.ca/install
- The bootstrap endpoint remains stable across version changes
- A new QR code is not required when the module version changes
- Human override must remain available where the host environment supports it
